Our work is centred around young people’s emotional wellbeing and everything we make is developed through the eyes of the child. We actively encourage teens to think differently, to understand that they have the capacity to redesign their thinking processes and challenge and change attitudes.
We train young people in interview skills, camera and audio techniques and storyboarding to plan their projects. We use digital media content to get young people and families engaged in telling their stories, and to reach out on broadcast and digital media platforms to a wider audience.
Whilst our primary audience are teenagers, our productions are aimed at anyone who wants to understand teens better including parents, carers, families, educators and policy makers.

BBC Raising Teens
Other work includes the BBC radio series and podcast Raising Teens (4 series have aired to-date). We have also partnered with Oasis Project to produce a series of trauma-informed training course for youth workers, a research-based project on women in the First World War that looked at their experience of trauma, and a project with the Trust for Developing Communities and the Sussex Violence Reduction Partnership in Brighton to develop a podcast created by teens that explores the relationship between young people and the police.
Raising Teens feedback:
“It’s so powerful and humbling to hear from the young people and parents who bravely shared their experiences – which for me is what makes this series so ground-breaking. Young people always tell us that they want the adults around them to understand what it’s like being young right now and this podcast provides us with a great opportunity to hear directly from them. It must be really hard for parents to find time to find out this information; podcasts are such an accessible way of digesting information and I’m sure some of the episodes of Raising Teens have been life-changing for some families across Sussex and Surrey. It was a pleasure to be involved.” Elinor Adie, YCMA Downslink Group
“A fantastic series. I didn’t miss one. The shows made me laugh and cry, and helped me realise I wasn’t alone. It was like sitting having a coffee with a group of friends discussing issues I’m facing as a parent.” Listener, Raising Teens
“Absolute gem – super valuable insight into the teen psyche. Interesting & informative with moments of hilarity. Brilliant. Highly recommended.” Listener, Raising Teens
